THE HOUSE OF P. PASHKOV IN MOSCOW Oil on canvas. 80.5 x 110 Inv. No 20778 The focus of the composition is the house of P. Pashkov (built by the architect V. Bazhenov in 1784-8). The building is positioned diagonally, in the depth of pictorial space, slighthy shifted to the left of the centre, beyond the fence (its columns crowned with lanterns). Moving along the fence are groups of people, carriages, a horseman and a dog. The blue sky is covered with clouds. CUPIDS. DESSUS-DE-PORTE Oil on canvas. 101 x 141.5 Inv. No 22442 Depicted on the clouds and in the centre are two cupids: one, in a helmet, is holding a lance, the other is wearing a crown studded with pearls. Painted beneath are draperies of red and green colours. A cupid below left is holding a shield and a lance. The composition is shown on the background of the blue sky and the undulated yellow drapery supported by a cupid. Provenance: Received from the Ostafyevo Museum (Doc. of October 14, 1930). CUPIDS. DESSUS-DE-PORTE Oil on canvas. 107 x 173 Inv. No 20666 Shown in the clouds are two crowned cupids with a trident, beneath are draperies of red and green colours. At the right we see two cupids offering grapes. A cupid represented below soaring in the skies down on his back is holding out his hands towards the central group. At the top the feet of a soaring cupid can be seen. : He is supporting the yellow drapery. The composition is set against the background of clouds and the blue sky.
